Baking - Not In The Kitchen
I recently heard about this trend called "baking" and to be honest I was immediately not interested when I thought this referred to an activity that took place in the kitchen. But then I started seeing the WEIRDEST pictures of people with white powder splashed on their face with the #baking and thought I should further investigate this trend.
So for starters, you guys know I am one oily monster. Sometimes it can be like a slip and slide up in here. I fit in really well in the summer when everyone else is sweaty, but I sure do stand out in the winter when everyone else is freezing cold and my face is still shining like the top of the Chrysler Building. Sure, I've tried different products, and some work AMAZING. But without fail, like some men get a 5:00 shadow, my shiny-ness always make a comeback. Needless to say, I'm pretty much up to try anything that might reduce shine and keep my makeup in place.
Baking refers to letting translucent powder sit on your face for 5-10 minutes which allows the heat from your face to set your foundation and concealer. Once the 5-10 minutes have passed, you dust the powder off which leaves a creaseless and (hopefully) flawless finish.
I did a little research and decided to go with Tarte's Smooth Operator Clay Finishing Powder. Once I found the product I wanted to use, I did a little research on YouTube to learn how to master the technique. I found this video by Heidi Hamoud and followed it step-by-step, she definitely broke it down and made it easy for a beginner like me!
Here is the finished result:
Overall I honestly really loved this trend, but it did take me quite a bit of time from start-to-finish. I would definitely recommend for a fancy night out or a wedding!
If you're looking for some fun ways to pass the time white you let the white powder sit on your face, I highly recommend taking as many selfies as possible and running into the room screaming with your hands in the air to scare the crap out of your dad. As you can tell I'm VERY easily bored, haha!
