3 Hair Products I Love

Good morning everyone - and #TGIF! I have a super busy weekend, but one that I'm so looking forward to! I'm reuniting with my college roomies - Hey, Siena College - and then I have my sisters bridal shower on Sunday. Follow me on snap to follow along on the fun!

I wanted to share some hair products with you that I'm loving. To start, I'll give you some background. Basically, I'm lucky I'm not bald haha. I have lightened my hair on three separate occassions over the past 3 years. I never really acheived the color I was looking for, so each time I would do a drastic dye back to dark. My internal battle is that I see pictures of girls on Instagram with beautiful bayalage hair and I want that - and then as any basic bitch does, I obsess and obsess and obsess. It's like once I see a picture of a girl's hair color that I like, those are the only pictures I see on Instagram.

So here I am again, back to blonde for the summer but doing as much research as possible to keep these hairs shiny and new.

I know that I've done a lot of damage to my hair with the back and forth, but I always think blondes have been putting more blonde on their hair for years, why does my hair look so damaged? I've learned product has so much to do with it, unfortunately, I haven't found any that are found at the drug store so these might be more than you're wanting to spend. I apologize for that and I'll keep searching! To clarify, I love drug store products for styling, but when it comes to protecting my hair (basically what I put on it when it's wet) it's worth investing in. Someone once said to me, girls spend so much money dying their hair, but then won't invest in quality products to maintain the color so it's pointless. That clicked for me. From then I started researching to find quality products to help better the quality of my hair.

Before and after - the photo on the left is 1 year ago today. My hair is fried. Since that picture, I went back to brown and now am back to blonde again. The photo on the right was taken today (sans makeup) to show how much better my hair looks today.

Here's 3 products that I have found from research

Olapex Plain and simple, if you're putting blonde on your hair you need Olaplex. There is no other way to do it. You've probably seen/heard about this all over social media. I first heard of it from Khloe Kardashian's hair team and then again when Kim went from super dark to very blonde.

Olaplex is a 3 step system, steps 1 and 2 are used at the salon and are worked right into the color. According to the Olaplex website, Olaplex links broken bonds in the hair during and after chemical services making them stronger than they were before. The 3rd step is a take home treatment - trust me you NEED to buy this! I use this as a hair mask once a week and I never miss. My routine is typically to rinse my hair, apply the mask, wrap my hair in a bun, drink wine & watch tv, go to bed (yes, I sleep with the mask in) and then wake up in the am to wash the mask out and style as usual. Trust me, you need this.

$40 - cost may vary by salon

Oribe Split End Sealer I actually only started using this product in the past few weeks. I picked it up at my recent visit to J. Luxe Salon in Syracuse. I was told that if I'm going to go light, I need this, so I thought I would give it a try. I typically use Oribe shampoo & conditioner, so I'm familiar with the brand and like all of their products that I've tried. On the box it says, repairs up to 94% of split ends after just one use. I don't know the percentage of hair on my head that this helped, but I will say I saw a difference after just one use. I now use this every time I wash my hair and my hair is SO MUCH better for it.

When I get out of the shower I comb my hair, but I won't use this until a few minutes into my blow dry. I put 3-4 pumps on my ends and then work it through when my hair is half dry, half wet and then continue to style as normal.

$46 - available online or at a salon

doTERRA Rosemary Oil I've previously written about how much I use essential oils in my hair, but this is the oil I use each and every time I shower. I put the shampoo in my hand and then add 2-3 drops of rosemary to the shampoo, work them together and then scrub it into my hair. Rosemary oil is full of antioxidants that help prevent hair loss and contribute to faster hair growth. Rosemary is also a stimulant for your hair, when it's applied to the scalp it induces blood circulation to the hair follicles which helps your hair grow faster and healthier.

$14 - contact Pietra Baio (my sister!) to order

These are three products that I've learned to love to keep my not-at-all-natural blonde hair healthy and shiny. I hope they help you too!
