Travel Diaries: Chicago
The hardest part about Monday is knowing the weekend is over! I'm particularly sad to say goodbye to this weekend because I got to spend it with my love! Side note: Luke travels A LOT for work so I don't get to see him a lot during the semester. I'm sure many can relate that long distance relationships are hard but thank God for technology! This weekend we got to meet up in Chicago, one of the cities that has been on our bucket list for a while. It was such an amazing weekend!
Chicago is probably one of the coolest cities I've ever been to. You know those cities that you travel to and the whole time you're walking around thinking "wow I could so live here!"!? Chicago was that city for me. I absolutely loved it. Luckily I had a few people that had been to/live in Chicago that gave me a bunch of recommendations on things to do and places to see. Unfortunately I ended up getting sick on Saturday night, but other than that, it was the perfect weekend.
I actually pre-laid out my outfits quite a bit for this trip - and wore just about everything I packed. Which is pretty unheard of for me, so I'm actually pretty proud of this. I found it was helpful to not bring much extra and new exactly what my outfits are going to be in advance instead of just packing a bunch of random things.
I have been dying to wear this midi skirt but I wanted to save it for a day outfit in Chicago. My plan was to pair it with my sneakers, but as you can tell, they are a little dirty so I opted for flats instead!
On Friday we hit up some touristy things including Cloud Gate (aka The Bean), Shedd Aquarium and Skydeck Chicago! I would definitely recommend seeing everything you can see in Chicago and any easier/more affordable way to do this is to buy a CityPass in advance. Not only does this make your access into many Chicago must sees cheaper, it also gets you Fast Pass into all of the places. This means you can avoid all the lines once you get inside so you can get even more done in a day!
So Cloud Gate is one of those places where you have all of these potential ideas for picture ideas and then you get there and your mind blanks and basically we ended up with the most basic pictures ever haha!
The view of Chicago from the Skydeck!
Everything was so beautiful at Shedd Aquarium my pictures could not even do it justice!
Dinner was so incredible on Friday night! Being the amazing boyfriend that he is, Luke let me pick the restaurant so of course I chose RPM Steak. I chose this mostly because I thought that maybe I would get lucky and Giuliana and Bill would be there, but no such luck. The food was so good, but if I had known how expensive it was I definitely wouldn't have picked it. EEK!!!! Sorry Luke! But this was by far one of my favorite dates we've ever had. <3
I didn't get a picture of my outfit, but I wore a blush dress with black over the knee boots with a gray peacoat!
After a very fully planned day on Friday we decided to be a little bit more low key on Saturday. We did some walking around and shopping. We did attempt to make it to Wrigley Field for a photo and to check it out, but since it was the World Series it was MADNESS down there I tell you, MADNESS.
Chicago has some amazing shopping. We spent a lot of time in North Michigan shops and the Shops at North Bridge. I don't think many girls get to say this, but I absolutely love shopping with my boyfriend! He has amazing style and has such a good eye for things. I consider myself very lucky in this department!
I'm (not) ashamed to say that I ended up buying the same pair of sneakers Luke already has. By the time I found them in the color that I liked it was a little too hard to get a picture. But yes, we are that couple.

*I would recommend sizing down with these sneakers. I am typically a 9 and ended up getting an 8 in these.
I ended up not feeling well Saturday night so we opted for a picnic instead of going out. We got delivery from Gino's so that we could try the deep dish pizza. OMG! It was amazing! This is a must try whenever you're in Chicago. We got ours with sausage.
I HIGHLY recommend Chicago to anyone who is interested in going! It's such an amazing city and not at all overwhelming!
Since it's the World Series, and I was in Chicago and all, go Cubs!
