Travel Diary: Denver
Three days in Denver and I'm ready to plan a second trip! It was a super quick trip to visit the BF while he travels for work, but we got to fit a ton of stuff in during the weekend and had the best time! During our three day stay we managed to fit in an NBA game, a horse back riding session, shopping and, of course, some amazing restaurants!
Friday Game time: Denver Nuggets vs. Minnesota Timberwolves! Going to professional games are always so much fun because fans create the best energy. I personally could care less about sports, but I love going to games and always seem to find the perfect combination of people watching + alcohol + popcorn... and then a little bit of game watching in there somewhere.
I opted for a denim on denim look with booties for the game. Since it was Halloween weekend there were actually a lot of people dressed up, which made for some pretty epic people watching!
Saturday So, I'm pretty used to deer - mostly because I've hit 3 with my car (yes, my car insurance bill is insane), but I've never seen elk. Apparently elk are as common as deer in Colorado so I don't think people understood why I hopped out of the car to take 500 pictures and 1893 selfies with the elk, but hey #tourist. To be honest, I had to ask what type of animal it was when I first saw one, but I'm not one to pass up a selfie opportunity.
We woke up early Saturday morning to head to Estes Park for a horse back riding session. #bucketlistworthy This was hands down one of the coolest experiences of my life. If you have an opporunity to go to Colorado I HIGHLY recommend doing this. The views were amazing, you can go on a private tour and it was very affordable.
Meet my horse, Otis.
We stopped and did some shopping as we were heading back to Denver. Luckily the BF likes to shop as much as I do, so he's the best shopping partner.
While shopping, I picked up this vintage tee that I blogged about yesterday.
Halloween night in an unknown city calls for takeout and Halloween movies. Best. Halloween. Ever.
Sunday I'm so basic and I love brunch - and I'm certainly not shy about admitting it. Brunch at Waffle Brothers pretty much changed the brunch game. Everything is made out of waffles. Hang on, I'll say that again... everything... is made out of waffles. Even the breakfast sandwiches are held together with two waffles instead of a bagel or english muffin. Serious game changer, this place is DEFINITELY worth a visit!
The BF had to work during the day on Sunday so I ventured out and did some exploring in the city. My sister has a bucket list goal of visiting the state capitol buildings in all 50 states, so in her honor, I went to the Denver Capital Building. It was a beautiful day for a walk and it was a great part of the city to visit.
For dinner we went to a beautiful, romantic spot in Denver, Beatrice and Woodsley's. It was the perfect end to our trip.
